MITCHELL, IN (Jan. 28th, 2019) CBR PR -Toby Wedgewood - Chase Briscoe Racing has been doing some big things this offseason and plan on doing even bigger things on track in 2019. The USAC All-Time winningest National Sprint Car driver the “People’s Champ” Dave Darland and Chase Briscoe Racing are teaming up to sling some serious dirt in 2019.
Darland has had his foot on the loud pedal for 38 years and counting. Racing quarter midgets as a kid, he and his father bought a Sprint Car when he was 15 years old and the rest was history. 62 wins in the USAC National Sprint Car Series put him atop the leaderboard as the winningest driver ever.
When asked about his upcoming opportunity with CBR, Dave had this to say:
“I feel great about it! I’m excited, they have a great team with Chase, Kevin, Brady Short and Brent Deweese. I’m certainly looking forward to it, it is a great opportunity for me. Kevin and I go back a long way. We’re similar to the same age and kind of started around the same time, in the same way. When I was growing up, watching his cars run, I know Richard (Briscoe) has owned some great teams. Being associated with the Briscoe’s for the first time in my career is a good feeling. Being 52 years old and getting a good solid ride like this, at my age, makes me feel good and I plan on giving them 100% every night. I want to thank the Briscoes and all of our sponsors for the opportunity, I look forward to working with those guys as a team. 2019 has all the potential to be a great season for us.”
Team owner Chase Briscoe had some words of his own for the opportunity to work with Darland:
“I can’t wait to have Dave in the car, when it comes to USAC competition you can’t find anyone more accomplished or better with the fans. There is a reason he is called the “People’s Champ.” Dave is someone I’ve looked up to throughout my career and it’s going to be so cool to have him in the car. My Grandpa has always said that Dave is the one driver he always wanted to have drive for him and it never worked out, so it’s really neat for our whole family for this to come full circle. I’m confident Dave will continue to put our car up front and battle for wins, hopefully we can get a little more sponsorship put together and contend for the USAC National title.”
